Over The Hill Mods
Fan-made mods for Over The Hill, with one app that installs them, sets up your wheel and mic, and holds every setting.
Older versions and changes: all releases.
Install
- Close the game.
- Unzip the download and start OTH-Setup. Keep the
payloadfolder next to it.
Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the app isn't signed: click More info > Run anyway. On Linux, if double-clicking doesn't start it: right-click > Properties > Permissions > tick "Is executable". - On Install mods, tick the mods you want and click Apply. Unticking a mod and clicking Apply removes it. Your settings are kept.
- Linux: the mods need a Steam launch option. Quit Steam and click Set it in Steam for me, or copy the line into Steam > Over The Hill > Properties > Launch Options.
- Start the game from Steam. The first start takes a few minutes with no window while the mod loader gets ready. Let it run.
The mods
First Person + VR
Cockpit and hood cameras with the car's interior, plus SteamVR. F5 first person, F7 VR, F3 menu. VR needs the launch option -force-d3d11 (the app can add it).
Wheel
Steering wheels, pedals and button boxes of any brand, with force feedback. F9 menu. Bind everything in the app's Wheel page.
Drive Assist
Cruise control, a minimap, quicker gear changes, spectating other players, controls that work right after menus, and light-up cosmetics that actually cast light (beacons turn in sync with their glow). F4 switches your beacons on/off; settings in the app.
Proximity Voice everyone needs it
Push-to-talk voice that comes out of your car through a police megaphone, fading with distance. Hold B to talk, F10 settings. Test your mic in the app.
Big Lobby everyone needs it
Online rooms for up to 20 players, with map colours and markers for everyone.
Online: everyone in a room needs the same versions of Big Lobby and Proximity Voice.
Uninstall
In OTH Setup, untick everything and click Apply. That also removes the mod loader. Then, on Linux, click Remove it from Steam to clear the launch option.
